Daniel,

Incredible coincidence-- yesterday afternoon I went home after work and was telling my wife about your blog and the article about Marge. Immediately thereafter my wife picked up the mail from the box, and the topmost envelope was from Marge. She had thoughtfully sent several photograph prints from Copper Valley, 1957. One of them was of Marge and my mother side by side.

My wife added, "nice to see your mother adding orchestration to the universe."

Hi David,

I'll forward the news about your mom onto my mother, Marge. I'm sorry for your loss, but it sounds like Rosemary was an amazing lady. I'm sure mom will have many stories to tell.

My younger brother, Greg, went into the Peace Corps in Africa because of my parent's example. Nice to see that it work wonders in your family, too.

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for including this article in your blog. I'm happy to find it via a web search. My mother, Rosemary Bobka (Zahler) Schamber, was one of the first five JVC volunteers, apparently along with your mother Marge and three other women.

My mother passed away May 23, 2010, after an unexpected turn for the worse in her health. She was 75.

During her last week of life and since then I've been in contact with several people affiliated with JVC and Copper Valley. If your mom hasn't yet heard, please pass along a note.

My mother was indeed "ruined for life" via her work with JVC. And two of three of her children (myself included) served as Peace Corps volunteers; the third child has spent the majority of his professional life within the non-profit world. The spirit, the intent, lives on.

I share your pride in your mother and I am similarly truly proud of the things my mother accomplished in her life, not the least of which is her time spent as a "founding mother" of JVC and an every-growing web of community service-oriented citizens of the world.

Hey Todzilla - I actually went to the trouble of reverting to older drivers with no luck. It just doesn't work. Mackie knows they have a broken product, but just can't fully admit it as they probably don't want a full recall on the product.

Sounds like you've already done this, but move on from the Onyx stuff. IThe number of in puts are alluring, but it just won't work in the end.

We're having similar problems with Onyx board, OSX 10.4.11 on a 1.8 GHz 3G RAM dual proc G5 and Digital Performer. I had been using a MOTU 896HD with no issues whatsoever and swapped out the Onyx for a session requiring more inputs than the MOTU's limit of 8.

Looks like we're going back to the MOTU box and dealing with 8 inputs. Research has revealed some folks have had luck reverting an earlier version of the OSX firewire driver, but I'm not sure how much I want to mess with my drivers for a problem relating to one recording session.

You can date Fenders by their serial numbers. It helps if you have an idea of how old it is first, though, because the serial number schemas have changed over time.
Call some shops that deal used guitars. They can tell ya for sure.

Hi Tnevz,
It doesn't have to do with the academic version. Mackie and Apple have recognized the issue. Here are probably the two most useful posts on the matter from Mackie:
http://forums.mackie.com/scripts/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=27;t=001690
and

Good luck!

I'm having the same problem with my m-audio interface. It's usb driven though. I didnt notice it til I played a real clean guitar signal into logic. I use a macbook pro and logic studio 8 academic by the way. So Im thinking it's a buffer/latency type issue that can be resolved within logic or it's a logic issue. Do you use the academic version of logic? Because my other thought is that since your not supposed to use the academic version for profit there are bugs in the software purposely.

Thanks,
Tnevz

Well, thanks for the comment but buying a PC is not really an option at this point. I'm mostly a Mac user and I'm learning Logic at the moment.
